Methodologies & Goals

Imagery has been captured using a DJI Mini 2 SE initaly, and later with w DJI Mavic 3, with the goal of exploring how consumer drones can be used to capture high quality imagery for analysis and monitoring of sites of interest.

The Mavic has allowed for some more advanced flight planning and execution, with the ability to capture higher quality imagery and more complex flight paths leveraging QGIS and python tooling to generate flight plans and execute them without having to fly them manually, working around the limitations of the DJI flyapp.

Methodologies

  • Low-altitude orthomosaic imaging using consumer UAVs, with manual or uploaded flight plans
  • Image processing with OpenDroneMap & QGIS
